I am delighted that the Archdiocese of Saint Louis has put out a statement concerning the Susan G. Komen "Race for the Cure." On their site, they explain that they cannot support the organisation for a variety of reasons:
- Komen gives money to Planned Parenthood;
- Komen supports embryonic stem cell research; and
- Komen ignores the link between abortion and breast cancer.
I know there are intense emotions surrounding breast cancer and great hopes to eradicate the disease, but it cannot be done over the bodies of babies or while ignoring a significant contributing factor. Women deserve better -- and kudos to the good souls in the chancery who are responsible for bringing this important information to light!

While I can understand, but not support, their connection with ESCR and their ignoring the abortion-cancer, I don't understand why they divert some of their funds to Planned Parenthood.

The Pink Ribbons support Planned Parenthood because they are ideologically allied with them regarding abortion. Breast cancer is regarded as a"womens'" issue and the facts linking breast cancer and abortion cannot be persued, let alone explored.
The media and corporate America have also brought into the Pink Ribbon marketing. Aftr all who can be against breast cancer research? true advocates for womens' health will call them on it.

THANK YOU for pointing this out. I feel like I'm the only person who knows about the connection between these organizations.
